The medical field is involved in many different levels, and with a variety of different people. These laws are designed to protect the patient and medical staff in the system. When any law is broken be it a patient privacy law, or a health standard, you risk the lives and livelihood of patient, medical staff, alumni, the hospital, the government etc... It is a very large system that you do not want to go messing around with.
