Polio is a disabling and life-threatening disease caused by the poliovirus. The virus spreads from person to person and can infect a person's spinal cord, causing paralysis (can't move parts of the body). Your chances of getting Polio is 1 in 2.4 million in the US and many researchers believe getting vaccinated for polio is not worth the risk except under certain circumstances
