Documentary films have more distribution markets now than ever before. you can watch the films at festivals, on television, on the internet, or on multiple streaming services. for this lab, you will find and explore three documentaries from any of these markets and categorize each documentary according to their type or mode. you should try to use documentaries that look like they will be from different types. locate three documentaries that you want to use for this lab. review the documentaries and select the category you believe matches each documentary. categories include: expository, poetic, participatory, observational, reflexive, and performative. once you have matched the documentary to an appropriate category, using a word processing program create a chart with three columns. first column – list the title and filmmaker (if available) second column – list the type, or mode, of the documentary third column – add your reasoning or evidence your chart should use proper grammar and contain no spelling errors.
