The fossil jawbone with teeth of Hylomous lyelli, found in a rock formation dated to 312 million years ago and in a fossil assemblage of terrestrial animals and plants, most likely belongs to the group of animals known as Tetrapods. Tetrapods are vertebrates with four limbs, or descended from such creatures, including amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals.
