Upon the arrival of Englishmen that established colonies within America, many historians/colonizers deemed Native Americans as 'savages' alluding that these people were people of no humanity therefore many believed that these people had no rights. Furthermore, people such as Nathaniel Bacon and events such as the Trail of Tears are just some of the events during history that were brought to the attention of the American public, yet based on the belief that these individuals were 'not human' they were constantly overlooked.
