Individualism
One of the main reasons for limiting the scope of government is the concept of individualism. Individualism is a social theory that favors the freedom of action and individual choice over the collective domain or state controlled government. The doctrines of individualism insist that the interests of the individual take precedence over the governed body as a whole.
