Hey there!
In order to solve these problems where you're given a bunch of variables and no numbers, all you have to do is push around the variables until you get what you're solving for (x) on one side of the = and the rest on the other side. This will be your answer. You can use multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction to solve. Remember that you have to what you do on one side to both sides.
[tex]ax + by = c[/tex]
[tex] \frac{ax}{a} + by = \frac{c}{a} [/tex]
[tex](x + by)-by = \frac{c}{a}-by[/tex]
[tex]x = \frac{c}{a}-by[/tex]
Your answer will be [tex]\frac{c}{a}-by[/tex].
Hope this helped you out! :-)

remember, we can do anything to an equiaotn as long as you do it to both sides
ax+by=c
minus by from both sides
ax=c-by
divide both sides by a
[tex]x=\frac{c-by}{a}[/tex]
ax+by=c
minus by from both sides
ax=c-by
divide both sides by a
[tex]x=\frac{c-by}{a}[/tex]
