Nando's was established in South Africa in 1987 and currently operates over 1,000 dining restaurants in over 30 countries. Specializing in grilled chicken with Mozambique piri-piri sauce, it was created by Portugese-born Fernando Duarte went to a Portugese takeaway called Chickenland. After tasting the food with a friend, they bought over the restaurant and renamed it Nando's after his firstborn son.
