A monument is made in the form of a right pyramid with a regular hexagon as a base. each base side is 5 meters and the slant height is 30 meters. if only the sides (and not the base) of the monument is to be covered by metal, how many square meters of metal are needed to cover the sides of the pyramid

Respuesta :

Given that the shape of the monument is a right pyramid with a regular hexagon as base.

The sides ot the pyramid consist of iscoseles triangles with base 5 meters and height 30 meters.

Area of each triangular side is given by
[tex] \frac{1}{2} bh= \frac{1}{2} \times5\times30=75[/tex] square meters

Area of the 6 triangular sides = 6 x 75 = 450 square meters.

Therefore, 450 square meters of metal is needed to cover the sides of the pyramid.
