-2x + xy = 30.....when y = 8

-2x + 8x = 30
6x = 30
x = 30/6
x = 5 <==

ok so plug 8 in for y so the equation equals -2x+8x=30 then combine like terms so it equals 6x=30 then divide 30 by 6 to get x=5
