Not really. Soon after GA distinct to enlarge its jurisdiction into the Cherokee Nation it commences surveying the land in the 1820s for subsequent Land Lotteries. Even before the "Trail of Tears was completed in 1839, they had already divide up some of these lands particularly in the gold claim area and allowed White settlers to move in. Also, the Indian Removal Act was a Congressional endeavor backed by the president, obviously (Jackson). The lawsuits brought forth by the Cherokees or on behalf of Cherokee Nation (Worcestor) and all subsequent appeals were Judicial rulings that were simply ignored by the Legislative and Executive branches of government.
