Answer:

double blind study

Explanation:

The technique of separating the study group into two and one receiving placebo and the other receiving the substance serves to eliminate the psychological effects of patients and to capture the actual effect of a substance studied on each person's organism. However, there are studies in which not even the researcher knows which group received each substance, this type of study is called double blind study. This tactic serves to eliminate the selection bias that can happen in the researcher. If he knows which group received placebo and which group received the substance, he or she may, albeit unintentionally, make a subjective judgment of the experiment. However, by using the double-blind study, the researcher will not have any influence on the results, he or she will only observe the results without any psychological interference.

The answer is a double-blind experiment. The double-blind experiment is an experiment when neither the subjects nor the experimenter knows which subjects get the true independent variable and which get the placebo.

EXPLANATION

A double-blind experiment refers to an experiment where the experimenters and participants both do not know who receives the particular treatment, and who does not receive the treatment. The procedure is also done to prevent bias from happening as a result. It is to minimize the probability that the research’s result is not credible. Double-blind studies are useful to prevent bias due to placebo effect or demand characteristics.

For example, when there is research regarding a certain drug, both the experimenter and the participant do not know who receives a particular drug, and who is in the control group. By doing this, the result of the study will be more valid and credible because a double-blind study eliminates bias within the study. Therefore, it is better for both parties to not know which participants receive the placebo and which participants receive the real drug.

In a study, the researcher has to use a placebo. Placebo is anything that does not have an effect on the individual. For example, in drug research, the person who receives the placebo will eat something that has no effect on their bodies, such as a sugar pill, or a vitamin. The placebo is given randomly within the control group.
