Four of country music's greatest singers, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, and Johnny Cash, worked together as the group the Highwaymen to perform this example of outlaw country music. This style was created as a reaction against the Nashville sound that many established country musicians thought took the creativity away from the artist.
