You can multiply a mixed number by an improper fraction.
Convert the mixed number into an improper fraction:
Multiply the number in front of the fraction (4 1/2) by the denominator.
4*2=8
Add this sum to the numerator.
8+1=9
9/2
Now we can multiply the fractions
9*-17= -153
2*9=18
The fraction would be
-153/18
or -17/2
Hope this helps!
