What role did maize play in shaping Native American societies

it was basically the only crop that could adapt to any climate, so it could be planted anywhere....and it kept the native americans alive

Maize (corn) played an incredibly important role in shaping native American societies, since it was one of the few foods that could grow on the land and had a stream of nutritional benefits.
