What adds more evidence to the idea that the cell is the basic unit of life?

Without cell's people, animals, and plants wouldn't be able to grow or reproduce. The cell cycle makes a duplicate of the same cell making a living object grow or reproduce. How ever plants do not reproduce that is another process.
