Expository Essay
This type is used to examine an idea, evaluate and present evidence about it, and support your presentation with an argument. You will typically write this essay in third person. Include a strong thesis statement, traditionally presented near the end of the first paragraph, with the body of the paper supporting the thesis with evidence. Provide clear transitions between the ideas that offer a logical progression toward your conclusion, which should expand upon the thesis by referring to the evidence you presented without introducing new evidence. Remember: state your evidence in the introduction, back it up in the body, and summarize everything in the conclusion.
