Write out the balanced equation for the reaction that occurs when Ca and NaCl react together. You do not need to make your subscripts smaller; just write them out as regular numbers. For example: H2O.

Respuesta :

The reaction of calcium and sodium chloride would yield to calcium chloride and sodium metal. It would be expressed as:

Ca + NaCl = CaCl2 + Na

To have the complete balanced reaction, it should be balanced where the number of each atom in the reactant side and the product side would be equal. The balanced chemical reaction would be:

Ca + 2NaCl = CaCl2 + 2Na

As we can see we have 1 calcium atom in each side, 2 sodium atom and 2 chlorine atoms in each side. This reaction is an example of a single displacement reaction where calcium displaces sodium and bonding with the chloride ion forming another salt.
