The portion of President Wilson's Fourteen Points speech that dealt with the issue of self-determination focused mainly on freedom and the idea of colonialism. The points five through thirteen focuses on this idea. Point five is focused on adjustment of colonial claims which would give way to having equal voices of the colonial governments. The evacuation of Russia and Belgium is focused on points six and seven. The freedom of France from Germany is focused on point eight. The correction of the wrong that was done is focused on point nine while point ten focuses on autonomous development of Austria – Hungary. Romania, Serbia, and Montenegro are also to be evacuated in point eleven. Point twelve assure Turkey of its sovereignty and point thirteen assures an independent Polish state. Basically, he focuses on the freedom of each countries by determining their own sovereignty.
