(x+1)(x-3)=0
(x+1)=0,(x-3)=0
x=-1, x=3 are the roots of the equation
so, the sum the roots of the equation: -1+3=2
then the product of the roots of the equation: -1*3=-3
so, 2-(-3)=2+3=5
it exceeds by 5
so the answer is (e)5
