4. What is the atomic number?
5. What do we use the atomic number to find?
6. What is the Atomic mass?
7. How do we find the amount of neutrons in an element?

Respuesta :

Periodic table is organized by their valence electrons, atomic number and their atomic mass ( and also their reactivity/ groups and families). Periodic table lists their elemental symbol, atomic mass and their name. Atomic number is the number of protons and (electrons). Atomic number help us find their location on the periodic table and also their protons and electrons. The atomic mass is the mass (weight) of the specific element (per atom). The atomic number subtracted from the atomic mass is the number of neutrons.

The tabular form in which all the elements are arranged according to their atomic numbers, masses and grouped according to their properties are called the periodic table.

1. The three ways by which the elements are arranged in the table are:

  • Elements are itemized according to their atomic numbers.

  • Periods are the horizontal rows in the table.

  • Groups are the vertical columns in the table.

The elements are grouped based on:

  • Atomic number

  • Atomic mass

  • Valence electrons.

2. The three characteristics table lists for elements are:

  • The elemental symbol in alphabetic form

  • Atomic mass in subscript

  • Atomic number in superscript

4. Atomic number: In the nucleus of an atom of an element the number of protons present is called the atomic number.

5. Atomic number helps in locating a given element in the table and tells about the number of protons and electrons present in it.

6. Atomic mass is the total number of neutrons and protons present in the nucleus of an atom of an element.

7. To find the number of neutrons subtract the atomic number from the atomic mass.
