The cones on the retina are sensitive to COLOUR. The retina is made up of two types of photo-receptors, these are rods and cones. The rods are more in quantity than cones and they are most sensitive to light and dark changes, shapes and movement. They are not sensitive to colour. The cones on the other hand provide the eye's colour sensitivity. The cones are concentrated in the macula portion of the eye.
