Dental assistant A says a child's first dental visit should be around the age of 4, when children start to brush their own teeth. Dental assistant B says a child's first visit should be around the age of 2. Which assistant is correct?

Respuesta :

" Neither. Children should have their first dental visit within 6 months of the first tooth erupting.
The problem with going for their first dental visit at age 2-4 is that if they have early childhood tooth decay and it's not managed soon enough, the child is at risk of losing all their "baby teeth" before they ever made it to the dentist for their first visit.

Many dentists won't see children that young simply because it's difficult to get a small child to co-operate in the chair. They prefer waiting until they are older and more compliant."
