Throughout the Middle Ages, religion was a strong, pervasive force in society. Most individuals were more concerned with God and the possibility of the afterlife than they were with current human affairs, says Encylopedia Britannica. By the time the Renaissance occurred, this social attitude was beginning to change. Religion was still practiced, but people began to be more focused on secular or humanist values, rather than spirituality, at this time.

During the renaissance people became less interested in religion. There was a rise in secularism and individualism.

People became more attached to the ideas of secularism and individualism during the renaissance period. The church was being separated from the daily lives of the people.

People were looking less at the bible and more into their daily lives and that of those around. There was an increase in humanism.

Renaissance affected art, how people drew and the way that they created architecture. It pushed people further away from the idea of God.
