Benito Juarez is a national hero and was the president of Mexico for five terms. He was born on March 21, 1806, he was orphaned when he was just 3 years old. Later he entered politics, there he started promoting reforms for the Mexican people. However, he went into exile, during the military regime of Santa Ana. He later returned to help overthrow the dictator. Later, He resisted the French occupation and worked to overthrow Emperor Maximillian. During his presidency, he created a more democratic Mexico.
