Amy and Elizabeth both work in sales. Each week Amy earns $18/h plus a $40 bonus, and Elizabeth earns $12/h plus a $100 bonus.

How many hours must Amy and Elizabeth each work in a week in order to earn the same amount of money? For that many hours, how much money would each earn?

They would each have to work BLANK hours, and they would earn $ BLANK

Respuesta :

A=Amy

E=Elizabeth

A=18x+40

E=12x+100

They would each have to work 10 HOURS to make $120 EACH
A = 18x + 40
E = 12x + 100

 x = the number of hours.
Set the equations equal to each other:

18x + 40 = 12x + 100
6x = 60
x = 10
So after 10 hours, they will make the same amount of money. To see how much money they will make, we can just plug in 10 for x:

18(10) + 40 = $220
12(10) + 100 = $220
