Nausicaa is worried that rumors may be started about her and a man. Usually as a child, or as a grown woman there would not be many severe consequences, however, Homer clearly states that Nausicaa is of the marrying age and with this comes the responsibility of not only her honor, but the honor of her royal blooded family. This shows that she is a thoughtful girl who is wise and has benevolent intentions.
