As per Bohr's theory of atomic model, electrons are present in specific orbits where they revolve around the nucleus. The orbits are stationary as the energy of each orbit is fixed and electron will neither emit nor absorb energy as long as they are on the orbit.

But this theory contradicts Heisenberg's uncertainty principle.As per this theory, we can not determine the exact position and momentum of a microscopic particle simultaneously.

Modern orbital theory predicts electron in specific orbitals which are three dimensional in nature. It is a quantum mechanical phenomenon where we can not apply classical mechanics to determine the exact position of electron. The  square of amplitude wave function associated with the electron gives the probability of finding the electron in a particular region.
