Some animals which are designated with as being r-strategists produce many offspring.
They produce many offspring as they live in unstable or very hostile environments and by producing a large number of spring ensures that the organisms genetic material lives on. if there is a larger number of spring it means that there is a higher chance of survival for some of the organisms.
