Analyzing the vitamin and mineral content of foods is an important step in developing good eating habits. Unfortunately, our favorite foods are not always the most nutritious foods. Foods that are processed or that contain high amounts of sugar tend to taste good but have few naturally occurring vitamins and minerals.
Record the information requested in the steps listed at the bottom of the page. Then answer the questions asked.
Step 1: List three of your favorite foods. They can be fresh or packaged foods.
Step 2: For each food source, list the three most abundant vitamins and/or minerals.
Step 3: Using the chart in the lesson entitled "Vitamins," list the health benefits that correspond to the vitamins and/or minerals that your favorite foods contain.
