The Stonehenge monument located in the city of Salisbury, England. The large Stonehenge’s stones are called sarsens. They are sandstone blocks and are up to 30 feet (9 meters) tall and weigh 25 tons (22.6 metric tons) on average. According the science they were brought from Marlborough Downs, a distance of 20 miles (32 kilometers) to the north. The name Sarsens comes "Saracen stones". Saracen" was a common name for Muslims, and came by extension to be used for anything regarded as non-Christian, whether Muslim, pagan Celtic, or other.
