This would be a personal question based on your own experiences. You would need to write of a time that you had to think hard to make a decision/solve a problem. For example, you may have had to "engage in critical thinking" to decide whether you want to take 2 years of college or 4 years.
The correct answer to this open question is the following.
Critical thinking can be understood as our human ability to use logic and reason when making a decision. When you use critical thinking you understand the nature of the situation or the nature of the problem. You are clear on the contexts that surround the decision. You use your logic and reason to identify alternatives and evaluate your arguments, and you are aware that the thoughtful decision you are about to make is ethical and correct.
For instance, one time I engaged in critical thinking to solve a problem or make a decision was the moment when I had to decide what kind of athletic scholarship was the best for my future. I had to compare the academic advantages one college offered me to the other two colleges that were interested in my athletic abilities. This decision affected my future life as a student and as a professional, so I had to be careful and apply critical thinking to make the best decision.
