Sun is the ultimate source of energy for almost all living cells, and it is plant cell’s source of energy for photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is a process in which plants capture sunlight and transform it into chemical energy which can later be used by other cells for their growth, metabolism, and reproduction. During photosynthesis, plants use sunlight to combine carbon dioxide and water together, to produce glucose (carbohydrate) and oxygen. Chlorophyll (a green pigment) situated in plant cells is responsible for plants ability to capture light energy from the sun.
