The Indian Reorganization Act repudiated the Dawes Severalty Act of 1887. Dawes Severalty Act of 1887 authorized the federal government of America to survey American Indian tribal land and divide it into allotment for individual Indian. This Act was put out of use in 1934 when Indian Reorganisation Act was passed. The aim of this Act is to reduce the America federal government control of American Indian affairs and increase Indian self-government and responsibility.
