EXPLANATION

Frankenstein or The Modern Prometheus is a novel written by Mary Shelley, the English writer. Shelley had started writing stories since she was 18 years old, anonymously the first edition was published in London on January 1, 1818. Her name only appeared in the second edition, 1823.  

This story was written when Shelley traveled to Europe in 1815, as she walked along the river Rhine, Germany and stopped at Gernsheim which is located 17 km from Frankenstein Castle. In the previous two centuries, there was an alchemist engaged in experiments. So, it inspired Shelley to write Frankenstein.

The main characters in this story are Victor and Captain Walton. Both men have ambitions to reach their goal of becoming hero figures that are remembered for all time thanks to their discovery. They exert all their time and energy and are even willing to put themselves and have the heart to put others in danger to achieve that goal.

Victor and Walton are both very enthusiastic about science. Both of these men have special skills and knowledge that no one else has. Walton devoted himself to exploring the world, uncovering geographic knowledge. While Victor chose to experiment with biology, the anatomy of the human body, animals, and plants.
