Ptolemy's map of the world
Portuguese caravels with triangle sails
The first school oceanic navigation
This is the right answer for PLATO
The first one is Ptolemy’s map of the world. This map was made on the second century A.D. and it the first map that used latitudinal and longitudinal lines for identifying different places on it. Also, it only showed parts of Europe, Asia and Africa because America was still unknown.
The second event is the first school oceanic navigation, established in Portugal in 1418. Its founder was the Prince Henry the Navigator and every student who attended to this school would learn to make maps, to navigate, and about science. Most of these students would sail to west Africa which at the moment was still an unknown area avoided by Europeans.
The third technological advancement is the Portuguese caravels with triangle sails. These ships were designed thanks to the sponsorship of the Prince Henry the Navigator and the school oceanic navigation, and they were very successful because they were fast, agile, economic and they could sail upriver and near the shore.
