how do you solve Log (base 8) 2 =x

log8 2 = x
by the definition of logs,  we can write

8^x = 2

8^(1/3) = 2

so x = 1/3

or we could solve  it by using log to base 10 and use our calculator

log 8^x = log 2
x log 8 = log 2

x = log 2 / log 8 =  0.333....  = 1/3
