The action of restriction enzymes, which are proteinaceous in nature is demonstrated when DNA is cut. Restriction enzymes cut DNA at specific nucleotide sequences and lead to the production of blunt or sticky ends. The examples are EcoRI, BamHI, HindIII etc.
