The syphilis treatment experiment was considered
controversial because those men who have syphilis were not informed about their
diagnosis. They were only informed that
they were going to enjoy and have free medical exams, meals, and even burial
insurance, in order for them to stay so the researchers will be able to observe
closely these men in the experiment.
