At 10 A.M the outside temperature was -5 F. By noon, the temperature was -17 F. Ricardo said that it was getting warmer outside. What is the difference between the temperature at 10 am and the temperature by noon? Is Ricardo correct? (The F means Fahrenheit)

Respuesta :

Ricardo is not correct because the temperature is actually getting colder (idk if I need to explain it more). The difference is -12 F
Ricardo is incorrect. -17 is less than -5; and therefore the temperature decreased between 10 am and noon.

To find the difference between them, we set up the following:

-17 - (-5)

-17 + 5

-12

So we know that the temperature decreased 12 units between 10am and noon.

I hope this Helps!
