14 muffins is 2/5 of your muffins.

In total you had 5/5 muffins, which is 5/2 times more.

Hence you had 14*5/2=35 muffins !

Hence you have 35-14=21 left !

Happy muffin party

Find the total amount. Set up a proportion:

2/5/14 = 1/x

Cross multiply:

2/5x = 14

Divide 2/5 to both sides or multiply by its reciprocal, 5/2:

x = 14 * 5/2

x = 70/2

x = 35

So the total amount of muffins is 35.

Now subtract this from the one's that blew away to find out how many are left.

35 - 14 = 21

So there are 21 muffins left.
