Respuesta :

So a tribe is usually run by elders who are considered to be the wisest and the oldest in a tribe. Usually the tribe chief is chosen among the elders, or it is a young and a strong person who is supported by the tribe elders. It's similar to a government because it's similar to having a president and a congress. The elders are the congress and the president is the tribe chief. It's different because you don't choose the tribe elders, they're just sort of self-imposing due to their age and previous behavior, while you get to choose the congress.

In the United States, tribal governments are the governments of Native American people that are federally recognized. Each Native American tribe usually has its own government. This can sometimes be similar to state government and sometimes can differ significantly.

Two characteristics of tribal governments are:

  1. Tribal governments interact with the federal government as the government of a sovereign nation.
  2. Tribal governments were formed trough several treaties between the U.S. government and the Native American people.

Similarities and Differences:

  • Tribal government is similar to state government in that they both hold jurisdiction over their own territory.
  • Tribal government is different to state government in that many tribal governments do not have separate branches of power.
