There are three major types of neurons: sensory neurons, motor neurons, and interneurons. All three have different functions, but the brain needs all of them to communicate effectively with the rest of the body
Three kinds of neurons are bipolar neurons, psuedounipolar neurons, and multipolar neurons. If you classify them by directions in which they send information, three types are sensory/afferent neurons, motor/efferent neurons, and interneurons.

Neurons carry messages using an electrochemical process involving ions that give various signals to the brain based on their electric charge.
