If the two square regions in the figures below have the
respective areas indicated in square yards, how many yards
of fencing are needed to enclose the two regions? how do you get 4 square root 130 as the answer

Respuesta :

I would assume that the given are the following since I’ve already taken this test. The small square is 5 sq. yards and the big square is 125 sq. yards. The solution would be like this for this specific problem:

x - length of square one
x`- length of square two

  x² = 5 unit².
x = √5
x * 4 = 4√5 (a square has four sides)

x`² = 125 unit².
x` = √125
x` * 4 = 4√125 (a square has four sides).
x` * 4 = 4√(5 * 25)
x` * 4 = 4*5√5
x` * 4 = 20√5

Length = 4√5 + 20√5
Length = 24√5

The answer would be 24√5 and not 4 square root 130.
