1) The difference between a theory and a law is that a law states a fact(something that cannot be disproved), a Theory on the other hand is like a law but there is not enough information to prove that it is a fact.
Examples:
Theory: The Universe was created in a huge explosion and is ever expanding.
Law: An object in motion tends to stay in motion, and object at rest tends to stay at rest unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.

2) Yes. The Law of Conservation of Energy states that matter cannot be created or destroyed. Energy is passed from the sun to first-class consumers(Plants & Bacteria), to second-class consumer(Herbivores), to third-consumers(Carnivores), Which either continues through third-class consumers or decomposers and will eventually circle back through the same process. Although some energy is lost due to energy consumption used for photosynthesis or muscle movement.
