1.) Cultural differences can have an extreme affect on the conflict over environmental issues. People in different cultures often have different life experiences and different values. A culture that doesn't value the environment and only wants to make a profit will have no problem destroying the environment in pursuit of a profit. Korea and America could be viewed this way. Countries that place value on the environment, like Sweden, will fight to aid in the protection of the environment no matter the cost--while America may want to reject any plans they have for this in the quest for a better profit.
Culture and Environmental Issues
Culture could be said to mean a peoples way of life or people's way of doing things.
Cultural differences often times contribute to conflicts revolving around environmental issues in the sense that culture influences how people react to diverse environmental issues.
Environmental Issues are issues which are as a result of the negative effect of human activities on biophysical environment.
Some major environmental issues are
- Climate Change/ Global warming
- Biodiversity
- Pollution (land, air and water)
- Deforestation.
The cultural differences between people determines how they react to the aforementioned environment issues and in turn, it may or may not lead to conflicts.
Self-Reflection
Self-reflection is the act of gaining clearer vision on issues as it concerns our life. It enables you to process events and achieve clarity and better understanding on them.
The process of preparing and planning for ones future is often times confusing. The availability of a guardian or mentor is of great importance.
Most times, after taking advice from a guardian or mentor, a person needs to reflect inwardly and give an honest assessment of the events in his/her life in other to put such advice into proper use.
