The correct answer is "freedom".

"A White Heron" is a short story written by Sarah Orne Jewett in 1886. It tells the story of a young girl named Sylvia, who comes to live in the countryside with her grandmother. One day she encounters an ornithologist who claims to be seeking for a particular species of Huron and believes he might locate this rare bird in around the location. He offers money to anyone who could lead him to the location of a nest of this bird. Sylvia eventually finds the nest up high on a tree, however, she arrives at an epiphany that, as the white heron, the bird, she has "broken free" of the world. She ultimately decides not to disclose the bird's location as she does not want to be a participant of this bird's eventual death.
