Scout realizes that her teacher is very racist. We know this because when Scout is at the trial, she overhears her teacher, Miss Gates, speaking poorly of black people, and telling Miss Maudie that Tom deserved what he got. We also know this because during Current Events class, Miss Gates also speaks poorly of Hitler, and it seems like she has a strong dislike to Hitler. Miss Gates speaks of Hitler and of democracy because Cecil Jacobs, Scout's classmate, brings up that Hitler is killing Jews and rounding them up into camps.
