I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud
by William Wordsworth

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

The Friends That Don’t Talk to Me

Today I walked alone all the way around the lake near my house. My path led through an old forest, and as I passed the enormous trunks of the trees, I felt as though I should respect their silence by being quiet myself. On the other side of the lake, the path emerged from the trees, and there was nothing but grass.
Then I came around a little hill and suddenly there were hundreds of Canada geese looking at me. I stayed still and quiet, hoping they wouldn’t fly away, and they didn’t. After a while they just went back to what they were doing. The more they ignored me, the more I felt that I was among friends.

Question #1:
-Although both texts share much similarities with a reoccurring reminder of isolation, their topics differentiate in point of view. In the first text, the narrator symbolizes in a third-person view as a cloud "That floats on high o'er vales and hills." (Wordsworth) However, in "The Friends That Don't Talk to Me", the speaker is him/herself as "[he/her] walked alone all the way around the lake near my house." (?)

Question #2:
-The two texts share a common theme as they both start neutral in loneliness and end up cheek in tongue with a happy ending. Despite this, both have slight contrasts in theme: The first text observes "others" with much symbolism in poetry, sending a somewhat clear message of how loneliness can open the eyes in the beauty of the world. The second theme is more straight forward as it seems to state loneliness is only temporary.
Question 1: The topic of the 2 texts different by how the 1st story was 3rd person and the 2nd story was 1st person.

Question 2: The themes of the story are different by how saying the first story was talking about clouds and being like it while the 2nd story was how the person was walking near the lake and how geese were looking at him.
