The design should be tailored to the topic you are asking the presentation for. Color, layout, and pictures all factor into the mood of the presentation. You wouldn't want to have bright colors, happy pictures, and a fun layout if your topic is sad. You would want to use a more formal layout with lighter or darker colors accompanied by sad pictures. You also wouldn't want to use too many pictures and overwhelm a page if the topic is serious. It overwhelms the viewer and makes for a bad presentation. Using happy pictures for a topic like "Save the Tree's" then the audience will feel as though they need to help the tree's. Guilt trip them while informing them. Be thorough.
